DAVID
ELLO has enjoyed a rich musical heritage and wide exposure
to the
theatre both onstage and off. He has been playing and composing music
on the
piano for eighteen years and has also written music for the harp, which
he
learned to play in his early teenage years. David’s acting
experience ranges
from supporting and lead roles in hit musicals such as Guys
and Dolls and Anything
Goes, to
plays and comedies such as The
Nerd,
in which he played the title role at the University of Houston. David
has also been very involved with Houston's InterActive Theater Company working in a variety of roles inlcluding acting, directing, tour-unit management, and teaching workshops and classes for children and teachers with H.I.S.D. and the Houston Vineyard. In 2002, with production
assistance from parents Mike and Cat Ello, David
directed his first full-length original production entitled Showcase Davidicus, a
one-night, fun-filled variety show that brought in an audience of over
700
people. In 2004, he directed his first short-play set to original music
called Tanzen
mit Tot for a University of Houston Theatre F.A.T.T.
(Friday Afternoon Theatre
Thing). And in 2006, David served as president and co-founder of
C.h.a.i. T.
(Christ-Honoring Artists In Theatre), a student organization whose
purpose was
to restore the worship of God in the theatre arts at the
University of Houston
.
That same year, David
collaborated with C.h.a.i. T., friends and family to produce Faithful,
a "multi-sensory explosion for the soul!" This outdoor production
featured the
work of several artists creating a melodic fusion of dance, music,
theatre, and
multimedia performances exploring the theme of God’s
faithfulness. This also
marked David’s first recorded musical collaboration with his
brother Joshua
Ello in the techno-remake of his song I
Sought The Lord, which made its debut during the production.
David went on
to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, acting/directing emphasis
from the
University of Houston, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In the professional
music world, David has performed on the piano and harp for weddings,
parties, and other events in addition to teaching music to children and
young adults. In
the spring of 2006, he was invited to play the harp with his brother
Joshua on
violin for the Lance Armstrong Gala in
Austin , TX
,
raising awareness and
support for the fight against cancer. In 2007 David collaborated with his brother Joshua to finish the score for Master of Dreams, a
new musical about the adventures of Joseph. The production received a
staged reading at the Houston Vineyard Storehouse the same year, and
the recording of the concept album began months later. After the recording and debut of the Master of Dreams Concept Album in 2008, David relocated to Chicago to pursue further development of Master of Dreams and other original works.
